The Big Island
Five volcanic mountains form this island which is the home to Madame Pele, The Goddess of Fire, as the Polynesian legend goes. The most active volcano – Kilauea Iki, has been ‘going off’ for years and the island is still growing. The experiences on this island are very different from the rest of the island chain. You can see stars, planets and sometimes comets from huge telescopes at the summit of Mauna Kea. Hike inside a lava tube, sunbathe on a black sand beach and step back in time when you visit Waipio Valley, the Valley of the Kings.
There are many fun, active, and interesting activities on the Big Island which offer groups a wide variety of exciting options to choose from. Board a zodiac raft and take a thrilling ride along the Kona coastline circumventing in and out of volcanic caves. Fly on a zip line canopy tour through unspoiled and breathtaking mountains and gulches of the historic North Kohala. Snorkel or scuba in the pristine waters of Kealakekua Bay and enjoy a BBQ lunch specially prepared aboard a state of the art vessel. Kayak down an old, historic sugar plantation irrigation canal through tunnels and waterfalls.
